Installing Print Settings

To access ZARCOM PRINT SETTINGS press <7> on the Utilities & Setup menu, then press <P> at the prompt.


If you are running the print settings for the first time the following screen will appear:

Follow the instructions on the screen.

The commands shown as entered above are the default printer commands for an EPSON dot matrix printer; you may select these or change them to whatever they should be for your particular model of printer.

To install a new print driver, enter the driver name instead of 'GENERIC', or a '?' to view a list of drivers.

      Move to the desired printer and press 'Ctrl'+'End' or 'Esc' to abort

Press <PgDn> and <PgUp> to view more Printer drivers.  To help you decide which driver you should use there is a filed called DBDRIVER.TXT, in the same folder as the DRIVERS.EXE file. Use 'Word Pad' to view the file. These drivers are a few years old, so you will have to try the latest drivers for your printer's manufacturer to find the rite one. Some times your printer may be able to simulate another kind of printer.

The meaning of the column's on the right are indicated below:

Move the cursor to your desired printer and press <Ctrl> and <End> simultaneously to select your driver. The following will appear on the bottom of the screen:

Press <P> to test your printer in Pica type. This is normally 10 characters to the inch.

Press <E> to test your printer in Elite type.. This is normally 12 characters to the inch.

Press <C> to test your printer in Condensed type.. This is normally 16.67 characters to the inch.

Press <S> to save the commands entered. These are saved in a file called ABDPRT.MEM.

Press <R> to return to Utilities and Setup menu.

If you are using a LASER or INK JET printer, the codes above are an example of the way you will have to enter the fonts required for you printer. These fonts are for a HP LASER II printer. If you have a complicated set up, do a Print Screen (in Windows: press <Alt> and <PrintScrn> simultaneously. Then using 'Word Pad', insert the clipboard into a new document and print it out) and save a copy of the settings once they are correct.

The printer settings are saved in a file called ABDPRT.MEM. You can erase this file if you wish to re-set the printer codes to the default settings or have no printer codes at all.

Press <S> to save the commands entered.

Press <T> to run a test to find out if the commands entered will work on your printer.
